From pup-friendly patios and pooch-
pampering hotels to dog beaches and
plenty of green-grass parks to play in,
San Diego is downright dog friendly.
PARK YOUR PAWS
In Ocean Beach, Ocean Villa Inn (5142
W. Point Loma Blvd.) gets two paws up
for being a Frisbee toss from Dog Beach,
while in La Jolla, La Valencia Hotel (1132
Prospect St.) provides dog owners with a
complete list of pet-friendly restaurants,
activities and nearby businesses at check-in and pups are welcome at on-site
restaurants. Downtown, the Westin San
Diego Gaslamp Quarter (910 Broadway
Cir.) treats four-legged guests to a
signature Heavenly Dog Bed, and Hotel
Indigo (509 Ninth Ave.) welcomes all
pets, regardless of weight, breed, size or
number per room.
PLAY WITH YOUR PUP
Dogs will have a ball at San Diego’s many dog parks and outdoor recreation spaces, like
the Encinitas Community Park (425 Santa Fe Drive), which boasts two acres of fenced-in
grass for romping, and dog runs in Balboa Park such as Morley Field Dog Park, with
a grassy field where dogs can roam off-leash. Several local beaches also cater to four-legged friends, like North Dog Beach Run in Coronado, Fiesta Island in Mission Bay,
Del Mar Dog Beach and Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. Or, bring Fido along on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) tour, offered by The SUP Connection in Liberty Station behind
the Courtyard Marriott hotel (2592 Laning Road).
