CORONADO CENTRAL BEACH
Voted the number one beach in the country by national
experts, this sand dune-rich beach with gentle waves is perfect
for families, long walks and seashell collecting. At low tide,
explore tide pools in front of the Hotel del Coronado, and
be sure to wander into the quaint village to check out shops
and grab a bite to eat.
Located at the southernmost point on the West Coast, this
beach is a popular spot for surfing, body boarding and swimming. Near the IB Pier, you’ll find grassy parks, recreational
facilities, shopping and dining. In July, award-winning teams
showcase one-of-a-kind sandcastles at the Sun & Sea Festival.
TORREY PINES STATE BEACH
Located at the bottom of the 300-foot cliffs of white and
golden stone, this picturesque beach is a prime location
for relaxing by the sea or an invigorating morning hike
in Torrey Pines State Reserve. Hikers and runners at the
summit should watch for dolphins below and blue whales
during the summer. Explore the park on free docent-led
tours on weekends at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. that
typically last a little more than an hour.

MOONLIGHT STATE BEACH
Located west of I- 5 on Encinitas Boulevard in Encinitas, this
wide, white sand beach is ideal for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, fishing and recreation. Recently updated facilities include
volleyball and tennis courts, equipment rentals, restrooms and
a snack bar.
