We are the yoga
capital of America.

With more than 200 yoga studios, not
to mention the many classes held on
the beach, San Diego is a major yoga
capital. Vanity Fair magazine recently
cited Encinitas as one of the birthplaces
of Ashtanga Yoga in the West, but that’s
not the only discipline we love. From
hot yoga to hiking yoga, there’s a class
for everyone.

We’ve got some
quirky ’hoods.
San Diego is comprised of 100 neighborhoods, each
with unique character. On a two-block stretch in
North Park, you can get a haircut, learn karate, cash
a check, repair your radiator, drink craft brews, party
with drag queens, pray with a bishop, pawn some
jewelry, attend a children’s musical, and buy flowers
for the lead in that musical.
We have the largest
number of small organic
farms in the US— 6,500! 7
From Chino Farms to Crows Pass Farm to Suzie’s
Farm, SD’s soil is fertile stuff. Eating local is an
eco-friendly, community-supportive practice, and
one we refuse to take for granted.
